About Us
The Ready To Learn Centers are in 11 Elementary school, and they follow the calendar of each school site. Wilburn Elementary Ready to Learn Program follows the year round Track 4 calendar. Each Ready To Learn Center provides high quality, developmentally appropriate, early childhood learning experiences through a supportive and cooperative partnership between families and early childhood professionals.
The goals of the program are to encourage the healthy development and educational success of all children and to increase the capacity of families to serve as the primary nurturers, teachers and advocates for their children. We achieve these goals by offering the following: Creative Play groups, Getting Ready for Kindergarten activities, developmental screenings, parent education, referrals to community programs and agencies.
Children 18 months to 5 years of age enroll with their caregivers to experience and to enjoy early childhood learning activities. Class attendance is usually one time per week for at least an hour. Mostly groups are designed for these specific ages and stages: early toddlers, 2 year old, 3 year old, and 4 year old. Even though each class caters to different ages, all children have hands-on fun educational experiences that provide a bridge for learning at home and in the community.
